The pandemic has had a lot of people filling their time during the lockdowns watching YouTube videos and I am no different. My wife and I are artists and I see opal carving as an art form. The attraction to opal for me are the unknowns when you first pick up a rough stone. That first look sparks the imagination, what's hidden inside? Then the exploration starts, what can be hiding inside? Once I sit down to a session the time seems to stand still and I find it difficult to break my gaze at the stone once the colours start to show. It's kind of hypnotic in a way. Once I got started there was no putting it down. Hooked on opal for sure!
